THE MAN BEHIND THE MUSIC

35 Years of Turning 'What If?' Into 'Play It Again.'

There are producers. There are composers. And then there's Keith Crane — the guy who hears what you're trying to say, smiles, and comes back with something better than you imagined.

Started With Sticks. Grew Into Symphonies.

Keith Crane grew up behind a drum kit — which is basically music school for people who like to be the loudest in the room. Studying under drumming legends Bob Gullotti and Gary Chester gave Keith a rhythmic foundation that still pulses through every track he produces today.

In 1988, he channeled that energy into founding Sky High Music — a full-service music production company built on one deceptively simple belief: the space between ‘good’ and ‘great’ is just one more creative push away.

What started as a one-man band (literally and figuratively) has grown into a multi-decade legacy of scoring, producing, and engineering music for some of the most recognizable names on the planet. From national TV campaigns to the streets of New York, from HBO’s Sex and the City to the halls of Fortune 500 boardrooms — if it needed a soundtrack, chances are Keith had something to do with it.

"Never Settle."

Those two words, passed down from a mentor Keith respects second only to his father, became the Sky High mantra. They live on every session tape, every mix session, every 2AM rewrite that makes the final product just a little bit more than expected.

The Resume Is Long. The Stories Are Better.

HBO's Sex and the City

That's right. Keith's music played between Carrie's monologues and Samantha's one-liners. His compositions were woven into one of the most culturally iconic TV series of its generation. No big deal. (It's a huge deal.)

Award-Winning Ad Campaigns

Keith's fingerprints are on some of the most celebrated advertising music in recent memory — including award-winning work for Chase Bank and The Partnership for a Drug-Free America. The kind of campaigns that stick in your head long after the TV goes dark.

Fortune 500 Brands

Revlon. Avon. Venus. Nutrisystem. Chase. These aren't just logos — they're proof that when global brands need music that moves product and moves people, they call Sky High Music.

Rock Royalty

Keith performed with the multi-gold-record 1910 Fruitgum Company and was trusted to complete the unfinished works of John Entwistle — the legendary bassist of The Who. That's not a flex. That's a fact. (Okay, it's both.)

Here's How Keith Thinks (Warning: It Gets Interesting Fast)

Every client walks through the door with a brief, a budget, and some version of ‘we want it to feel like…’ followed by a wave of their hands. Most producers nod along. Keith leans in.

He has an uncanny ability to think in directions others don’t. Where someone else might hear ‘energetic and fun,’ Keith hears a specific tempo, a specific instrument combination, a specific emotional arc that gets there in a way no one saw coming. It’s part instinct, part craft, and part three-plus decades of listening harder than anyone else in the room.

The process is collaborative, never precious. Ideas get challenged, arrangements get rebuilt, and somewhere between the first rough cut and the final master — something genuinely surprising happens. Every time.

"Demanding, yet fair, open-minded, and easy to work with. The difference between good and great is never left to chance."

— Keith Crane, as described by longtime collaborator

Vocal Production

From demo to dream take. We work with vocalists to unearth performances that producers and directors actually fight over.

Full Production

The whole enchilada. Concept to completion. You bring the vision, we build the world around it — arrangements, tracking, mixing, mastering, delivery.

Ready to Make Something That Sounds Different?

Here's the honest pitch: Keith doesn't want to just do the job. He wants to do the thing that makes you call your whole team into the room to listen. The thing that makes the edit easier because the music is already telling the story. The thing that sounds, unambiguously, like the right answer. If that sounds like the kind of collaborator you're looking for — let's talk.
